Carmen Patterson announces candidacy for Lincoln County Attorney

The following is a statement sent to SVI Media from Carmen Patterson announcing her intent to run for Lincoln County Attorney

I, Carmen L. Patterson, am announcing my candidacy for Lincoln County Attorney.

I have practiced law in Wyoming since 1994. I began my career as a Deputy County Attorney in Campbell County, prosecuting cases from July of 1995 until September of 1998. From 1999 to 2007, I served as a Public Defender for the Sixth Judicial District serving Campbell, Crook, and Weston Counties. Since 2007, I have been in private practice, I currently practice at Sanderson Law Office in Afton.

Few attorneys have stood at both tables. I have prosecuted and I have defended and that work taught me what a fair case looks like-and what a weak one looks like. A County Attorney needs to know the difference. The County Attorney serves the people of Lincoln County. The office exists to enforce the law equitably. The Constitution is not a suggestion; it is a guarantee, and the citizens of this county deserve a lawyer who treats it that way.

I attended elementary school in Kemmerer, graduated from Star Valley High School and returned home in 2015. Star Valley and Lincoln County are where my roots are, and it is where I have built my life.

I view the role of County Attorney as one of public trust and stewardship. If elected, I will approach this office with a deep respect for the responsibility it carries, and a commitment to serve the citizens of Lincoln County with honesty, professionalism, and sound judgment.

I respectfully ask for your support.
