The Town of Thayne was briefed on the upcoming visit of The Wall That Heals, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, located in Washington, D.C.

The memorial, spanning 375 feet and 7.5 ft. high, will be displayed July 9-12, 2026, at the Star Valley Middle School. The display will include a space for reflection and healing for veterans, their families, the entire community and travelers.

The mission of The Wall That Heals is to bring the experience of the national memorial to those unable to visit Washington, D.C.

Thayne Town councilman Joe Heward reported the large U.S. Flag, displayed over U.S. 89 during the Independence Day holiday, will be used to welcome the memorial as it travels through the community.

Bike Trails

A Special Use Lease for Recreation was reviewed by the town at the May council meeting for a state section of land west of Thayne.

The current agriculture lease holder has asked to see the master plan for the project that would allow for bicycle trail use within the lease area.

The plan could potential link to  a trail system in the adjoining Caribou Targhee National Forest, if approved.
