Discounted advanced tickets are available at Broulims in Alpine, Thayne and Afton and at Advantage Plus Federal Credit Union in Afton.

(0:00) Second guest interview segment for the day today and Corey from joins me live in studio Corey with the Rotary Club (0:07) I’m starving. Good morning, Corey. How are you today doing? Great.

I appreciate your time (0:12) Thanks for stopping in big news the circus coming back to town the Culpeper and Merriweather Circus (0:18) They make the rotations every couple of years and this area back on their schedule (0:22) So tell us tell us when the circus will be here. So it is coming on Wednesday, June 24th (0:27) Perfect and fairgrounds again, correct? Yep, Lincoln County fairgrounds (0:32) This is a cool circus for those who haven’t been I mean, this is like what you see (0:37) I mean, they have the tent they had the animals. I mean the the cloud the whole thing, right? I’m always amazed (0:42) This will be the fourth year.

I’ve helped with it and every year the trapeze stuff the tightrope (0:49) The Lions the dogs like every year. I’m always amazed by it. Yeah, absolutely (0:55) So this is going to be June 24th and that’s going to be at the Lincoln County fairgrounds to two different showings (1:02) Correct.

Yep. Yeah, so the first showing is at 5 o’clock the other showings at 730 and then that morning (1:09) They actually do a tent raising if kids want to come and watch them pull up the tent. The tent is huge (1:15) That’s at 9 30 a.m (1:18) But yeah, it’s just it’s a great event.

It happens every two years (1:22) Great great for the community many proceeds that we make from it (1:26) Just go back to the community and we also like where it happens during the middle of the week where we’re not competing with any (1:31) other local events (1:33) So it’s great. It’s great for kids. It’s great for adults.

And like I said every year it’s fun. Absolutely (1:38) Great time. How do people get tickets? Usually there’s some discounts if you get them in advance, correct? You’re right (1:45) So all of the branches of bro limbs (1:48) Alpine Thane and Afton are selling them also advantage plus in Afton has them and yeah, there’s a pretty good discount (1:54) So if you buy them early (1:56) Yeah, you get a better deal.

Perfect. And as you mentioned proceeds go to the Rotary Club (2:01) Remind us what the Rotary Club does with the money that you guys earn from these types of events for the local community (2:05) Yep, so it’s it’s one of our annual fundraisers, I guess every two years (2:10) So we get dictionaries for third graders every third grader in in Lincoln County (2:16) We help supply a dictionary we help with we have an eye care fund which helps (2:23) locals (2:24) Get optometrist services at a reduced rate (2:28) We partner with the hospital with our breast care fund. We do the highway cleanup (2:33) So yeah, just helps community in a lot of a lot of good ways.

Absolutely does some great things (2:38) so again (2:39) the Culpeper Merryweather Circus at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Afton June 24th and (2:43) You can get tickets in advance at a discounted price at Brolin’s and Alpine Thane Afton or advantage plus in Afton and (2:51) Tickets of course available at the gate as well for anything else about the circus specifically that we need to mention today (2:58) You know this year. It’s kind of exciting. They have a the lion they’re using (3:02) He was actually rescued.

I guess his owner (3:05) He just got too big and his owner couldn’t take care of him anymore. And so (3:09) Wendell is his name (3:11) So we’ll have to check him out and I guess he’s pretty young but he’s getting to be a big guy (3:15) Excellent Wendell the lion going to be at the circus core (3:19) You’ve been mentioned you’ve been involved with the Rotary Club for a handful of years helping with your fourth circus now (3:25) If you will, why do you participate in the Rotary and why are you volunteer with the crew? (3:30) You know, the awesome thing about roadie Rotary is it’s a global organization, but it’s also so local (3:35) You know, we can choose any projects we want to participate in and so it has such a local touch (3:41) It’s not you know, something that just goes out of the valley (3:44) you know, we (3:45) Raise money here in the valley and then the money gets to stay here (3:49) And so it’s it’s super community oriented and then we also yeah, we get to choose what projects we want to be involved with (3:56) And how does someone become involved and and usually what kind of time commitment and how does that all work? (4:02) So we try to meet a couple times a month so it’s not a big time commitment as far as meetings (4:08) You know, we’ll have some service projects (4:11) It’s really not a big time commitment and just talk to any local Rotarian or jump online. We have a Facebook page (4:18) But yeah talk to any of us and we’d love to have more people helping out perfect (4:22) Cory from with the start Rotary Club of Star Valley in the Culpeper Meriwether Circus, June 24th (4:30) Tickets available now at Brolin’s and Alpine Thane Afton and advantage plus in Afton Cory anything we missed you’d like to mention today (4:36) I think that covers it all perfect.

It’s all part of the weekday. Wake up this morning on SVI radio
