Local Lincoln County 4‑H members demonstrated precision, discipline, and sportsmanship during the annual County 4‑H Archery and Air Rifle Shoot held June 6. Youth in the county gathered to compete, improve their shooting skills, and represent their clubs in a day filled with friendly competition.
Participants competed in both archery and air rifle events, testing their accuracy on a variety of targets. In the archery competition, shooters carefully aimed at bullseye targets set at varying distances, while air rifle participants focused on control and consistency as they fired at standardized targets under range supervision.
The event provided an opportunity for youth of all experience levels—from beginners to advanced competitors—to participate. Many members have spent months practicing safety procedures, proper shooting techniques, and concentration skills in preparation for the shoot.
“The county shoot is always a great chance for our members to show what they’ve learned,” said Shar Perry. “It’s not just about hitting the target—it’s about building confidence, responsibility, and respect for the sport.”
Safety remained a top priority throughout the day, with certified instructors and volunteers ensuring all participants followed proper protocols. Parents and spectators also attended, lending support and encouragement to the young shooters.
In addition to individual performances, the event emphasized personal growth and teamwork. Many participants improved their scores compared to previous competitions, highlighting the value of consistent practice and dedication.
The 4‑H shooting sports program continues to provide youth with valuable life skills, including focus, patience, and decision-making, all while promoting safe and responsible firearm and archery practices.
The June 6 county shoot once again proved to be a successful and rewarding event, showcasing the talent and hard work of local 4‑H youth. A huge thank you to all the volunteer leaders that help with our shooting sports program and County Shoot.
