The Town of Star Valley Ranch learned that a new pumper truck will be arriving soon for the Mid-Valley Fire District.

The district serves Thayne, Bedford, Star Valley Ranch and the Etna areas.

Fire Chief Tedd Jenkins told the ranch’s town council the new truck added to the fleet will carry over 1,000 gallons of water.

“That’s exciting news for us, as the district is replacing old outdated equipment.”

Jenkins thanked the council for the town fire restrictions this summer with the lack of snow from the previous season.

“We’re concerned about the town because of the proximity to the forest,” Jenkins advised.

He inquired about a community evacuation plan,  noting proximity to “high fuel potentials.”

The Fire Chief said, “There will be mass evacuations immediately, if there is a fire, to Thayne or Etna,” he said.  “We encourage residents of Star Valley Ranch to have a plan. We want to be part of that plan.”

The Mid-Valley Fire District will be holding the department’s annual golf tournament Aug. 29 at the Ranch’s Cedar Creek course.

In other news related to Star Valley Ranch:

• Water meter placement continues in the town with just over 230 meters distributed and another 1,000 planned in the coming weeks.

• A youth group from Preston assisted with improvements at the Green Canyon Trail.

• The SVR Planning Commission is updating land use ordinances and removing multi-family zones language out of the ordinance.

• Town Roads will be reviewed and scheduled for grading improvements. Mag Chloride dust abatement was applied to Vista West Drive earlier in July.

• The Water Utility Board elected Dave Roberts as chairman.

• Water Utility Board alternate member assignments were approved as part of Ordinance 2026 07 on third reading.

• Ordinance 2026 06, addressing golf course fencing regulations and set backs, passed on first reading.

• Ordinance 2026 09 addressing fees on alcoholic beverage was approved on first reading.
