• Funds used to help area families
The Andy Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament added another chapter to their history this past weekend, raising funds to help area families who have been challenged with unexpected medial expenses as they honored the legacy of the event’s namesake.
“It was a great success,” replied Shantel Johnson. “We ended up with a total of 19 teams and enjoyed a great day of golf, a delicious lunch and lots of fun prizes.”
The first place team sponsored by the Bank of Star Valley was comprised of Derk Izatt, Kade Rich, Seth Jenkins and Jake Rich. There was a little drama after that.
“We had a tie for second resulting in a sudden death playoff between one person from each of the two teams,” Johnson added. “Kyler Battleson and William Wilkes battled it out on Hole 10 and William’s team walked away with the win.”
William’s team also consisted of Taylor Wilkes, Marshall Mendenhall and Karson Wilkes.

“Everyone had a great time and loved holding it at Valli Vu Golf Course in Afton again this year,” Johnson continued. “The golf pro, Dusty Withee, was incredible to work with and helped make this year’s tournament so successful. We are looking forward to another memorable and meaningful golf tournament next year!”
The Andy Johnson Memorial Foundation uses the proceeds from each year’s golf tournament to financially assist local families with unexpected medical bills. The event also award scholarships to Star Valley High School students each spring.
