Flash floods in the Grand Canyon have claimed multiple lives this past weekend and a Star Valley man is still missing as search crews continue to look for signs of survivors.
Timothy Allen Smith, 53, of Star Valley Ranch was with friends John Giusti, 46, and Brent Rosenkranz, 42 when floodwaters overtook them on Saturday August 29.
According to information from the National Park Service (NPS), Smith is the only man still unaccounted for as the bodies of both Giusti and Rosenkranz have been recovered. Crews from the NPS, the Coconino County Search and Rescue and BORSTAR are searching a debris field north of Phantom Ranch in Arizona.
“We just ask that you keep praying for the safety of all those in the canyon looking and helping our family,” said Carrie Smith. “We just ask that you pray for us, for strength in this journey of not knowing where Tim is.”
