Salt River Arts Society has called for artists to audition for the 2026 production of the musical The Forgotten Carols, by Michael McLean. This classic Christmas story, created over 30 years ago, features a unique and personalized retelling of The Nativity.
Auditions are open September 17-18 from 5-7 p.m. each night in Room B of the Ford Theatre, which is the door just north of the main theater entrance.
Weekly rehearsals begin September 21 and are scheduled for Mondays from 7-9 p.m. Shows are scheduled for December 3, 4, 5 and 7.
Interested artists should prepare to sing part of a Christmas song and be prepared to read from the script of this beloved Christmas musical.
According to forgottencarols.com, “The Forgotten Carols musical theater stage performance tells the story of Connie Lou, a nurse whose empty life is changed when Uncle John, a new patient she is attending, recounts the story of Christ’s birth as told by little known characters in the nativity story.
The accounts from the Innkeeper, the Shepherd and others help the nurse discover what the world has forgotten about Christmas, ultimately encouraging her to open her heart to the joy of this special season.”
