Star Valley Auto Club presents the annual Hot Star Valley Nights Car Show and Cruise on Saturday, September 19 from 2-8 p.m. at Kodiak Mountain Resort on U.S. 89 just south of Afton.  All proceeds for the non-profit organization’s event benefit individuals and organizations in Star Valley.

Participants are invited to register in advance using the provided QR code or at the event during check-in between 2 and 3 p.m. The first 10 registrants, whether online or at the door, will receive a bucket of car care tools and products. Officials plan to open the show immediately following check-in, begin drawing for raffle items at 5:00, present awards at 7:00, and then conduct the traditional cruise of U.S. 89 at 7:30 p.m. that evening.

Early registration is $30 and registration at the door is $35. All motorized vehicles are welcome including cars, trucks, side by sides, motorcycles, boats, tractors and more. Participating vendors include food and product vendors.

“This all started with an idea of just having people get together and share cars,” said Frank Vargas, who serves as President of the Auto Club. The club “decided to use the cause to help local families or businesses or anyone in need. We all work full-time and do this on the side. For these individuals to take time out of their schedule to make this happen, it blows my mind. It’s unbelievable and it’s a miracle that they can do that. It makes it all so worth it.”

One of this year’s features at the show is a calendar of the Thayne Fire Department firefighters. Guests can purchase the firefighter calendars. This year’s event also offers a new class for youth entries 14 years of age and younger. The committee has planned awards for many different categories of competition. Participants can expect to receive creative and unique awards.

“We always like to see people,” said Vargas. “The more people come out, the better the events get the more we can raise for local people in need. It just makes it fun. The comradery, the people you get to meet, just the company, you get to meet new friends.”

Vargas says, “Anything helps. At least drop in to see what we are about and why we do this. Come meet the people who helped make this happen. It would be great to have more supporters, sponsors and donors, whether it’s time, money or whatever. Donating anything for the cause makes it work it. That’s why we do it. We want to show that we want to help people. Our main purpose is to help.”
