Candidate Filing Period now open

Individuals who wish to run for public office in Wyoming will be able to file for candidacy beginning Thursday, May 14 through May 29. This includes federal, state, county and city/town positions. This does not include those who wish to run for board positions such as School Board, which will open August 5 ahead of the General Election.

Interested applicants can file by contacting the Lincoln County Clerk’s Office.

County offices up for vote this election include Clerk of District Court, Assessor, Treasurer, Clerk, Sheriff, Attorney, Coroner and two Commissioner seats. All county offices up for election are 4-year terms.

House Districts 18, 20, 21 and 22 are also up for election as 2-year terms. Other state offices include Treasurer, Auditor, Secretary of State and Governor, all 4-year terms.

Congressionally, Wyoming’s lone United States Representative seat is up for election, a 2-year term, along with one United States Senator seat, a 6-year term.

In municipal elections, the mayor for the towns of Afton, Thayne, Star Valley Ranch, Alpine and Cokeville are all up for election as 4-year terms. Multiple town council seats are also up for election in each incorporated community.

In addition, several Precinct Committeemen & Committeewomen seats are up for election across Lincoln County in both the Republican and Democratic parties.

The 2026 Primary Election will take place August 18 with the General Election November 3.
