A dinosaur, Mr. Incredible and a very convincing singing Lorax were in attendance in Afton as the Star Valley Braves shutout the Rawlins Outlaws 56-0 to advance to the 3A semifinals next week. Students and adults alike celebrated the Halloween weekend on the local field in a game that showed off a frightening Star Valley aerial attack.

The Braves’ offense exclusively went to the sky in the first half, not attempting a single rush while Ross Hilton put up video game numbers yet again, throwing for 302 yards and five touchdowns in just barely over a half. It’s the fourth time Hilton has thrown for at least 300 this season and the fifth time he’s thrown for at least five touchdowns in a game.

Nine different receivers caught at last one pass, led by Travis Thomson who finished with 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The scary senior, complete with Joker-inspired eye-black, also made a nifty play by taking a high Rawlins’ punt off a bounce and returning it 42 yards for a score. The Delgado twins, Zach and Gabe, each scored on passes from Hilton as well, while Crew Lancaster’s single reception was taken 65 yards up the sideline to paydirt.

The other two scores in the game came from Hunter Randall and Kade Rich who each had a rushing touchdown.

Defensively, the Lincoln County Regulators collected their fourth shutout in the last seven games and allowed just 119 yards of total offense to the visitors. Rawlins did not complete a single pass as three different throwers combined to go 0/4 through the air.

On the ground, senior Adan Garcia ran 20 times for a total of 64 yard to pace the Outlaws who’s best chance to score in the game came late in the contest on a 34-yard field goal attempt which went wide left.

The win improves the Braves’ record to (9-1) on the season and they will now host the final home game of the season next weekend against the Lander Tigers who defeated Jackson 29-21. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on November 6. Star Valley defeated the Tigers 56-0 earlier in the season in the Braves’ home-opener.

The Tigers scored the game’s final touchdown and put together a two-point conversion to put away the Broncs 29-21. On the other side of the bracket, Cody romped over Buffalo 56-7 and Riverton had little trouble with Evanston, 31-7. The Broncs will now travel to Fremont County to face the Wolverines next weekend. A Cody win coupled with a Star Valley victory would put the two programs into the state championship for the fifth straight season.

In the 2A class, Big Horn rolled over Lovell 52-8 and will face Thermopolis who defeated Torrington 48-28. Mountain View went on the road and smashed Burns 48-13 to set up a rematch from the 2A West in Cokeville next week as the Panthers corralled the Glenrock Herders 48-7. That game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on November 6.

In the 4A class, Natrona blanked Kelly Walsh 41-0 and Central defeated Laramie 27-20 for one matchup. On the other side, Cheyenne East beat Thunder Basin 34-14 and Sheridan blasted Campbell County 55-21 in a rematch of last years title game.
