SVI Radio Interview: Eliza Petty, One With Christ Libertas Fundraiser

Eliza Petty with the local non-profit One With Christ called into the Weekday Wakeup to promote an upcoming fundraiser for Libertas International. The Country Dance will take place on November 15 at the Afton Civic Center from 6-8 p.m.

(0:00) Eliza Petty joining us now on the weekday wake up here on SVI radio. Eliza is a recent graduate (0:05) of Star Valley High School and has helped with organizing the group One With Christ (0:11) and they’re holding a nice fundraiser event for Libertas International. Eliza, thank you so much (0:17) for your time.

Let’s start with what is One With Christ and how did this organization come to be? (0:23) Um, it actually started with Libertas. So in eighth grade, I was in the junior NHS and we did (0:34) a fundraiser for Libertas and we raised like $800 or something. I don’t really remember.

(0:43) But then Tyler Schwab came and he was talking to us and he said that we had helped save the girl. (0:51) And I just, like, that really stuck with me, the fact that we can actually make a difference (0:56) in other people’s lives, like a real lasting difference. And so after that, I just decided (1:03) that I wanted to do all I could.

And me and my cousin, Tinsley, we started One With Christ. (1:11) Very cool. So what is the goal of this organization then? (1:16) And One With Christ and what do you guys kind of do with it? (1:21) So we just want to share Christ’s love as much as possible.

And Christ is very much so an (1:26) individual person. Like he would reach out to individuals, but he also reached out to the (1:33) entire world. And so for us, it’s really important to reach out to individuals in the community (1:39) and help people that are struggling in the community, but then also address larger world (1:45) issues as much as possible.

Well, of course, that’s where Libertas International comes in. (1:50) Of course, I think most of our listeners are well aware of the organization and what they do for (1:56) child sex trafficking and helping those victims reacclimate to life. And so tell us more about (2:03) this country dance you have organized coming up.

More of this event. What’s going to happen here? (2:10) So a friend of ours, Evelyn Mabee, her and her band are going to come and play. So we’re (2:17) super excited for that.

And we’re also going to have refreshments. And Tyler Schwab is going to (2:23) come and tell us a little bit about his organization. And it’s just going to be a super fun (2:29) night.

Very cool. So this is happening, I understand, on Saturday, November 15th, (2:35) six o’clock at the Afton Civic Center is where this country dance Libertas fundraiser will take (2:40) place. Do people need to get tickets in advance? Can they get them out the door? What’s the cost (2:44) and those types of things? They can get them at the door.

They can get them in advance. There’s a (2:51) Venmo thing on our flyer. It’s $15 for a single ticket and $25 for you and a friend to get.

(3:02) People can find the flyer, by the way, on our events page at svinews.com. (3:06) Speaking with Eliza Petty, One With Christ, this Libertas country dance event is going to be (3:11) hosted by One With Christ. It’s going to take place on Saturday, November 15th, (3:15) six to eight p.m. at the Afton Civic Center. Eliza, I know that you guys also have some (3:20) social media where people can go to and learn more, not only about this event, but also about (3:25) learn more about One With Christ.

How do people find you guys? (3:30) It’s just One With Christ on Facebook. (3:33) Perfect. Easy enough.

Eliza, anything we missed you’d like to mention today? (3:40) I’d just say we can’t all make a huge difference, but if each of us are willing to do a little bit, (3:47) then we can together make a really big difference. (3:51) Can’t say it any better than that. Absolutely.

Eliza Petty, (3:54) One With Christ, and the Libertas fundraiser, country dance, is again going to take place on (4:00) Saturday, November 15th. Tickets in advance or at the door will take place from six to eight p.m. (4:05) at the Afton Civic Center. Eliza, thank you so much.

We appreciate it.
