Girls Basketball
The Lady Braves battled through a pair of hard-fought victories against Natrona County and Kelly Walsh. On Friday, the team trailed for much of the game but gained the lead late in the contest and picked up a 36-30 victory. Ambrey Nelson scored 12 points and had six rebounds. Morgan McGee added nine points and five rebounds.
On Saturday, the Lady Braves hosted Kelly Walsh and fell behind early by as many as 12 points but chipped away for most of the game and tied the score in the fourth quarter. A late basket from the Trojans with under ten seconds remaining gave them the lead, prompting a Star Valley to call their final timeout. With 3.5 seconds remaining, Morgan McGee received the inbound pass, ran up to the three-point line and banked in the game-winner as time expired for a final score of 33-32. McGee finished with seven points. Ambrey Nelson scored 10 points to lead the team.
Boys Basketball
It was not a pretty game for the Braves who never found any offensive rhythm in a 42-38 loss to the Natrona County Mustangs. The team shot just 32% from the field and were out-rebounded by ten in the effort. Dylan Shumway led the scoring with 13 points while Lincoln Liddiard finished with nine.
On Saturday, the Braves and their fans experience the very definition of a roller-coaster game with extreme highs and lows before eventually coming away with a 65-62 win over Kelly Walsh.
Star Valley jumped out to a 41-21 halftime lead behind Cooper Lancaster’s hot start and some team-wide deadly shooting from beyond the three-point line. However, the Trojans got just as hot in the second half and cut the lead down to a single possession before the Braves were able to answer. The two teams combined to make 23 of 55 three-point attempts overall as the Trojans’ final effort did not fall to force overtime. Lancaster finished with 24 points and ten rebounds. Dylan Shumway scored 14 and Lincoln Liddiard scored ten.
The Star Valley High School basketball teams will host Evanston on Thursday, January 22, before traveling to Riverton on Saturday, January 24.

Thunder Ridge won the event with 185.
No athletes made it to the finals but Remington Aullman, Cara Andrews and Brooke Schwab all placed third with Oakley Hepworth finishing in the medals as well as 6th.
