A Creative Galentine’s Gathering

Provided by Rosa Montano

This February, community members are invited to celebrate Galentine’s Day in a uniquely creative and heartfelt way with a free, two-hour Junk Journaling class designed to foster connection, creativity, and joy.

The Galentine’s Junk Journaling event offers participants an opportunity to slow down, unplug, and spend meaningful time creating alongside others in a relaxed, welcoming environment. No prior experience is required, and all materials will be provided — from papers and embellishments to journals, glue, and creative prompts. Attendees simply need to bring themselves and a willingness to explore.

Junk journaling is a creative practice that blends art, memory-keeping, and storytelling. Using layered papers, ephemera, words, and imagery, participants create expressive pages that reflect personal moments, emotions, and inspirations. The process emphasizes play and self-expression rather than perfection, making it accessible to all skill levels.

“This event is about more than crafting,” says the class facilitator. “It’s about giving women a space to gather, connect, and create something meaningful — without pressure, cost, or expectations. Galentine’s Day felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate friendship and creativity together.”

The class is designed as a social and supportive experience, welcoming attendees to come alone or bring a friend. Throughout the two hours, participants will be gently guided through the journaling process while enjoying conversation, laughter, and the simple pleasure of making something by hand.

Because the event is free and supplies are prepared for each participant, seating is limited and advance registration is required.

The Galentine’s Junk Journaling class takes place on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 7, from 10:00am to 12pm at the Thayne Branch Library Those interested in attending can register by calling the library at 307-883-7323.

Whether participants are seasoned creatives or curious beginners, the event promises a warm afternoon of inspiration, connection, and celebration — a reminder that creativity is for everyone, and friendship is always worth honoring.”
