(0:18) Let’s first start off with this portrait workshop. (0:21) That’s what, about a month away, right? (0:23) Middle of April. (0:25) Yes.

(0:25) This is a brand new workshop. (0:27) We’ve never done anything like this before. (0:29) It’s called Alaprima Portrait Workshop.

(0:33) Alaprima means wet on wet, so it simply means that each painting that we do at the workshop (0:39) will be completed in one sitting, usually three hours, and that’s not usually how you (0:45) work with oil. (0:46) You layer and wait for things to dry. (0:47) Anyway, so this is a little bit different, but we’re going to have live models, and we’ll (0:52) be completing two portraits a day, so up to six models throughout the workshop.

(0:58) The dates are April 15th through 17th, and that’s a Wednesday through Friday, and this (1:04) is all day. (1:04) This is nine to four, and we have a professional instructor coming up from Utah to teach it, (1:10) and it will be held at the Thane Community Center, and the cost is $350, and then we (1:15) have registration and more information on our website. (1:18) Very cool.

(1:19) So that’s coming right up. (1:20) If I remember from last time we had you on the air, you were looking for models. (1:23) Are you still doing that, or do you have that all booked up? (1:27) Well, no, we don’t have that booked up.

(1:29) The models that we were looking for were for the figure drawing, and we’re always looking (1:33) for more of those, but yeah, if anyone wants to model for this, it would be a similar pricing (1:39) to what we do for our figure drawing models, and we would love to have some fresh faces. (1:45) Excellent. (1:45) All right.

(2:01) We did this last spring, and we had such great feedback from attendees and then requests (2:07) to do it again, so this year it will be held on April 18th at 7 p.m., and this is at the (2:13) Ford Theater. (2:14) Tickets are $12. (2:15) This concert is comprised of all local talent, and it’s a variety of instruments and vocals, (2:24) and they’re all performing some type of classical music.

(2:27) It’s just really cool to have something like this in the Valley with the classical, and (2:33) so we have the link to those tickets on our website. (2:35) Excellent. (2:35) starbodyarts.org. (2:37) Busy month, April is.

(2:39) The Watercolor Workshop happens after that, towards the end of the month. (2:43) Yes. (2:44) This is April 25th and 26th, Friday and Saturday, and this will be taught by Lester Lee from (2:50) Cache Valley.

(2:51) We have had so much more interest in this Watercolor Workshop than we have for any of (2:56) our others that we have held, and so we only have a few spots left before the instructor (3:00) said this is all I can take, so this is only $200. (3:07) It’s at the Afton Civic Center, and you can find that also on our website. (3:11) Perfect.

(3:23) Yeah. (3:24) Hopefully, many of you have seen the art exhibit that we currently have showing at the Thayne (3:28) Community Center. (3:29) It looks so great, and we were able to collect so much art.

(3:33) So many different artists have participated, and so this is an exhibit that we’re going (3:39) to change every quarter, so the theme is different. (3:45) So the deadline to send in submissions for our next exhibit is April 13th, and the theme (3:50) for that is Dominant Hue, and we can accept anything that’s hangable. (3:56) So it could be fine art or photography or stained glass or embroidery or quilts, whatever (4:01) you can think of.

(4:02) We want it. (4:03) We just love the variety. (4:05) It’s just a great way to showcase art that might not be seen otherwise.

(4:09) I think it’s a fantastic idea, and I’m happy that the first go-around has been a success (4:14) for the Art Lane at the Thayne Community Center. (4:17) So can you handle more? (4:20) I mean, despite how well it was used the first go-around, can you still even use more than (4:26) that for the next quarter? (4:28) We could, because we’re only using one wall right now, and we have access to a wall across (4:35) from that if we ever get big enough. (4:37) Perfect.

(4:38) So Art Lane submissions for the next quarter at the Thayne Community Center, deadline April (4:42) 13th. (4:42) Lexi Weber with the Starbody Arts Council. (4:44) Lexi, you may have mentioned this already, but I think worth bringing up again, the very (4:49) popular Children’s Summer Music Theater is coming back this year, and the production, (4:54) the play that’s happening has been announced.

(4:57) Yes, so our play this year is The Rockin’ Tale of Snow White, and the format will be (5:05) the same as last year, where we have auditions in May, and then wait a week or so before (5:12) the rehearsal start, which will be the first week of June. (5:15) So it’ll be three full weeks of the rehearsals, and then the performances are going to be (5:20) on June 17th, 18th, and 19th, and that is Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. (5:25) And if you watch our social media, you’ll be able to see when we open the registration (5:30) for that.
