LCSD#2 did very well in the awards portion of the Southwest District Senior Student-Athlete Award voting from the most recent meeting of the athletic directors and head coaches of those schools this past week.
Colton Cranney and Camryn Mackey of Star Valley High School and Addison Barnes of Cokeville High School were named as the South West District winners of the award along with Alexander Kinsman from Little Snake River High School in Baggs.
“Each year the best senior student athletes from Southwest Wyoming are nominated by their school AD’s for this outstanding award,” noted a statement from the organization. “Athletes are nominated based on their athletic achievements, academic success, and leadership in their school and community.”
Cranney and Mackey were named the boys and girls winners for the 3A/4A classifications while Barns and Kunsman represented the 1A/2A classifications.

Barnes was second in scoring for the 1A West this past season in basketball at 17.5 points per game. She was also top-ten in rebounding with 6.5 per game as she led the Panthers to a (23-4) overall record). She was named to the 1A All-State list, the fourth time she earned the honor in her high school career. Barnes is the reigning state champion in 1A for the 400 meter, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Camryn Mackey earned All-State honors for the Lady Braves in the 4A classification on the volleyball court at the libero position. The team compiled a (20-17) record and qualified for the state tournament, an accomplishment the program has now done for the past 11 straight seasons. Mackey led the 4A classification with 502 total digs and was one ace behind the leader in that category as well with 59 for the season. On the basketball court, Mackey was a defensive specialist but also shot 33% from the three-point line while averaging just under five points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game. The Lady Braves won 18 games and brought home the 4A consolation trophy. She earned 4A West All-Conference honors for her play.

Colton Cranney is the reigning 4A Cross-Country Wyoming State Champion and was also named the Wyoming Gatorade Cross-Country Runner of the Year for this school year. His time of 15:59.8 was the only time under 16 minutes in the state. He led the Braves to a 4A runner-up finish as a team. He finished 26th overall at the Nike Northwest Regional and also finished 37th overall in the Brooks XC Championships. He ran the fastest 5K time for any Wyoming runner in history at The Mook Invite in Washington with a time of 14:50.2. Cranney is also part of the overall state record in the 4×800 meter relay which was set last May alongside Jase Burton, Habi Wetzel and Brigham Hahn.
