Alpine hosts Master Plan open house

Alpine is moving forward with a Safe Streets and Roads For All program designed to address growth in the community. The program comes with a grant to help develop an Alpine Master Transportation Plan.

“This grant will help Alpine improve roadway design, pedestrian access, bicycle connectivity and overall traffic safety for residents and visitors alike,” Alpine Mayor Eric Green explained for SVI following a May 21 public meeting.

He said the plan will address community growth. “As Alpine continues to grow, these improvements are critical to protecting lives, reducing accidents and create a safer more walkable community for families, students and travelers who rely our transportation network every day.”

While Alpine develops a plan specific to the community, Lincoln County is progressing with a larger regional plan.

The Lincoln County Transportation Master Plan was approved May 6 and it will be updated as part of an overall county comprehensive plan.

Lincoln County Engineer Amy Butler explained the county will be finalizing the Upper Valley Transportation Plan that will also include trails by July.

“This will then start the process for planning to add to the comprehensive plan,” she advised.

“We are also applying for TAP funding to complete the Lower Valley Transportation Alternative Plan,” Butler said. “This grant is due July 15th.”
