Montana Shakespeare in the Parks returns to Star Valley with a presentation of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” on Sunday, July 26 at 6 p.m. at Star View Park in Afton. A preshow, featuring local clogger Kyndal Anderson and Star Valley’s own madrigal vocal group, Pro Musica Amicis, opens at 5:15. Admission is entirely free.

“Born from aspirations to bring the timeless tales of William Shakespeare directly to rural and under-served communities, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks has been enriching the lives of people in Montana, and beyond, for 54 years,” states shakespeareintheparks.org. “Ushering Shakespeare’s immortal stories of life, love, and tragedy into a modern era, MSIP is dedicated to preserving the cultural traditions of theatre and literature.”

A long-standing annual offering of the Star Valley Arts Council, MSIP sends a troupe of MSU theater students to towns throughout the intermountain west to share the glory of Shakespeare with small communities.

“Experience world-class, professional live theater right in our community,” said Corinne Storey, who serves as Secretary to the Star Valley Arts Council.   You won’t want to miss this “unforgettable, free evening of romance and hilarious banter at ‘Much Ado About Nothing.’ The original Rom-Com, this play is packed with clever insults, mistaken identities, and joyful chaos.”

“To those who never miss a show, and those who who’ve never attended, we invite you to join us,” said SVAC Executive Director, Lxi Weber. “The Montana Shakespeare in the Parks actors bring classic plays to life in a way that’s fresh, fun, and totally free.”

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and camp or lawn chairs and are welcome to bring snacks.
