A two-vehicle accident took place on US 89 on Thursday, September 17 that resulted in significant injuries. 

According to information provided by the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), at 8:04 a.m., a woman and an infant were traveling in a van southbound and attempted to make a left hand turn and was impacted by a truck heading northbound near the Wolf Den Motel.  The momentum of the collision pushed the vehicles off the road and pushed the van through a nearby fence in the area. 

The woman suffered significant injuries including a broken hip and was transported for medical care. The infant did not suffer any apparent injuries in the crash. The driver of the truck was also not injured despite a malfunction in the vehicle airbags which did not deploy. 

First responders were on scene from the Thayne Fire Department, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Star Valley EMS. 

The incident is still under investigation by the WHP.
