The Town of Alpine has deconstructed their temporary roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 89 and Greys River Road.
The project was monitored by traffic counts and camera observation. A community survey is now available to help the town gather input from residents. Responses to the survey are due Wednesday, October 21.
Alpine Town Administrator Riley Hovorka explained the consultant, Kimley Horn Engineering will present data collected from the demonstration project, and accompanying survey, in an upcoming town council meeting in November or December.
Survey
The Alpine Transportation Safety Action Plan and Demonstration Project Feedback Survey includes 10 questions and an opportunity to comment on the roundabout.
Alpine reports, “The demonstration will allow the town and project team to evaluate how a roundabout functions at this location under real-world conditions.”
The survey addresses a series of questions that include place of residence, how often you traveled through the roundabout, accessibility of the roundabout, comparisons on personal use and observations of traffic flow, and support for the project and comfort with use of a roundabout.
The temporary project came through town council approval in September.
“The town council decided a temporary roundabout demonstration project would be the most effective to study,” Alpine Mayor Eric Green said in an SVI report at the time. “The goal is to try and slow down traffic coming through Alpine.”
The Wyoming Department of Transportation has approved temporary traffic measures as studies in Sheridan and Pinedale.
