The Star Valley Braves blanked their second conference opponent 48-0 in less than a week as they went on the road and rolled through the Evanston Red Devils on Wednesday. Ross Hilton completed nearly 80-percent of his passes while throwing for 271 yards and five touchdowns from the quarterback position. He completed passes to eight different receivers with Roman Erickson finishing the game having hauled in six of them for 90 yards and two of those scores. Travis Thomson caught five while Krew Morgan and Kai Frazier caught three apiece. Frazier finished with a pair of touchdown receptions as well.

On the ground, Zach Delgado led the team in rushing for the third straight game, finishing with 93 yards and a score on 14 carries. Crew Lancaster had 76 on 13 carries. Overall the team had over 500 yards.

Defensively, the Star Valley defense was absolutely stifling again, allowing just 24 total yards to the hometown Devils. Since entering Wyoming play this season, the Braves have outscored their opponents 228-34 and recorded three shutouts.

The win improved the Braves’ record to (7-1)(4-0) and sets up a huge regular season finale against the Jackson Broncs (7-1)(3-1) in Teton County next Friday, October 23. A win over the Broncs would give the Braves home field advantage throughout the playoffs while a loss would potentially muddy the waters of the 3A West seeding. Star Valley defeated Cody while Jackson fell to the Park County Broncs, 70-49.

3A Roundup –

The Riverton Wolverines routed Rawlins 47-2 to claim the 3A East top seed. Jackson went on the road to Green River and caged the Wolves 36-13. The Cody Broncs pounded rival Powell 55-10. Buffalo handled Worland 35-6 and under thumped Douglas 35-19.

The Lady Braves had a great home crowd for their annual Pink Night as they hosted the Evanston Lady Red Devils. The visitors dominated the first two sets 25-14 and 25-15 before the Lady Braves found their footing. Star Valley extended the match with wins in the next two sets, 25-22 and 25-21. A slow start in the fifth and final frame doomed the comeback 15-8 but Star Valley showed their grit and determination in the effort.

The parity of the 4A classification behind top-ranked Kelly Walsh was on display again this week as Star Valley then traveled to Green River swept the Wolves despite their first place standing in the 4A Southwest.

The Lady Braves will now wrap up the regular season next Thursday with a match at Jackson which will be the host site for the 4A West Regionals on October 30-31.

Lost vs Evanston 3-2 (14-25, 15-25, 25-22, 25-21, 8-15)

Won at Green River 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 26-24)
