Gordon releases video urging Wyomingites to vote against Prop 1

CHEYENNE (WNE) — Gov. Mark Gordon on Tuesday released a video on YouTube urging Wyomingites to vote against Proposition 1 on next week’s general election ballot.

Prop 1, the Wyoming Homeowner’s Primary Residence Property Tax Exemption Initiative, calls for a 50% cut in residential property taxes.

Gordon states in the video, “Those concerns over escalating property taxes have led to recent, meaningful property tax relief. And I wanted to assure you that we did it very carefully, trying not to cripple the services people depend on. As you consider Proposition 1, remember the effects of this measure were not carefully considered. And that’s why I’m urging you to vote no on Prop 1.”

Prop 1 is also opposed by the Wyoming Stock Growers Association, Wyoming Fire Chiefs Association, Wyoming Business Alliance, Wyoming Hospital Association, Wyoming Taxpayers Association, United States Sen. Cynthia Lummis, State Sen. Eric Barlow, Wyoming Association of Community College Trustees, Wyoming Senior Services Association, the Wyoming Realtors and more, according to a news release from the Vote NO on Prop 1 political action committee.
