The United States Geological Service is reporting two earthquakes occurred a few miles east of Freedom on Thursday, February 23.
The first quake measured as a 2.8 and occurred at 3:45 p.m. The second quake was larger, measuring as a 3.3 and occurring at 5:17 p.m.
Both earthquakes occurred about 3.5 miles west of Freedom, near highway 34 in the Caribou National Forest.
