Numbers for visitation at Yellowstone National Park have been released and continue to be higher than they were prior to the pandemic in 2020.

According to those numbers, the park hosted 969,692 visits in July which pushes the 2023 season total to 2,463,202. Both numbers are significantly higher than 2020 which saw the park close for a period of time due to historic flooding, but the numbers also represent an increase from the totals received prior to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

Yellowstone received 2,294,691 at this same time in 2019. This year’s numbers represent an increase of 7%.

Star Valley roads continue to see many of these visitors as U.S. 26/89 is one of the primary corridors to the park through Jackson.

Here are the numbers as reported from Yellowstone officials:

2023: 2,463,202

2022: 1,855,396 (The park was closed from June 13 through June 21. the Northeast Entrance opened October 15 and the North Entrance opened October 30)

2021: 2,668,765

2020: 1,674,699 (The park was closed March 24 through May 17)

2019: 2,294,691

2018: 2,322,271
