The boil order that has been in place in Bedford for several weeks has been lifted. The Bedford Water & Sewer District said on Wednesday that the EPA has received and reviewed the results of the consecutive daily samples. As a result those on the Bedford water system may discontinue the boil water advisory.

Jason Mavy with the Bedford Water & Sewer District told SVI News that bacteria was found in the spring water, but no cause was determined. “Bedford has decided to continually treat the water so that it is not an issue,” said Mavy.

The boil order went into effect August 9 after it was found the system had been contaminated with E. coli. Since then they system has been disinfected. Following clean samples collected on Sept. 14, 18 and 19 the EPA gave the approval to lift the boil order.
