• Hilton and Kerr siblings leading Team Roping event

A pair of local siblings sit at the top of the standings after the fall season of the Idaho District 8 High School Rodeo Team Roping event. Tristen and Ross Hilton are in first place with 45 total points. Ryder and Case Kerr are in second place with 34 points.

The ropers are part of a growing Star Valley and western Wyoming contingent that compete with junior and high school athletes in Idaho’s District 8. This fall high school rodeos were held in Montpelier, Grace, Malad and also a home event in Afton at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. The rodeos include traditional events including Bareback and saddle bronc, barrel racing, breakaway roping, bull riding, goat tying, pole bending, steer wrestling and tie down roping. Junior and High school age students from Star Valley, Cokeville and even as far south as the Bridger Valley compete with the Idaho District.

The fall season of rodeos has come to an end. The sport will resume in the spring with more rodeos. The fall scores and times will be included with the spring rodeos.
