The Wyoming Water Development Office (WWDO) in partnership with the Star Valley Conservation District is conducting a Level I Watershed Study for the Salt River Watershed. Y2 Consultants/Sunrise Engineering are conducting the study on behalf of the WWDO and Conservation District.
This Level I watershed study will evaluate the current watershed function, irrigation conveyance systems, stream health, vulnerability of water systems to wildfire, and rehabilitation opportunities. An important part of this project is for the team to understand the current water projects occurring throughout the valley and look at potential future small water projects. To do this, several outreach events will be scheduled to interact with the public on thoughts for potential new projects and get the best understanding of what is going on in the watershed from those who experience it every day.
The first outreach event of the Salt River Watershed Level I Study will take place in Afton on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 and in Etna on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 5:30-7:30 PM. A short presentation giving background on the project, background on small water projects, and introducing the team will be provided at 6:00 pm. More information on the open houses can be found below.
For any questions regarding the Salt River Watershed Level I study or the public scoping meetings please email the project manager Bree Burton at bree@y2consultants.com; WWDO project manager Mabel Jones at mabel.jones1@wyo.gov; or Star Valley Conservation District Manager, Kay Lynn Nield at kield@starvalleycd.org. A project website with additional information will be forthcoming and shared through many platforms once available.
