Basketball games between Jackson & Star Valley postponed until February 20

Multiple avalanches caused U.S. Highway 89 between Alpine and Hoback Junction to be closed for approximately 14 hours from midnight February 15 until 2 p.m. Crews from Teton County Wyoming Department of Transportation worked for many hours to clear the roads. However, warming temperatures and rain have caused concern about more slides and prompted WYDOT to advice no unnecessary travel on the route.

Because of this designation, school buses will not travel the route where this potential danger exists. This decision will cause basketball games between Jackson and Star Valley to be postponed. Preliminary discussions with Rob Erickson, Activities Director at SVHS point to a rescheduled meeting on Wednesday, February 20.

Wyoming travel has been mired in deep snow, slush and ice which also caused Interstate 80 to be closed for approximately 48 hours.
