Best Hiking Trails To Discover This Fall

Whether you’re planning a family vacation or need to get out more, going on a hike is a great way to find yourself and enjoy nature and wildlife. It’s exhilarating to go during the fall; you aren’t dealing with heat waves or miles of snow on your path.

So, where are some great trails to try? We’ll introduce you to some of the best hiking trails to discover this fall, ranging from beginner to expert levels. Meanwhile, take the time to plan a trip to some places to walk through.

Beginner Trails

If you’re relatively new to hiking, try out a couple of beginner trails to familiarize you with trekking. One of the more accessible trails to see on the eastern side of the country is Jordan Pond Path in Maine. It provides a breathtaking view of Jordan Pond, located in Acadia National Park. Consisting of nearly 3.5 miles, it gives hikers a chance to see the surrounding beauty.

Alternatively, you can visit Glacier Point in the Yosemite National Park if you’re on the west side of the US. In California, this hike is suitable for just about anyone. Not only does it offer a beautiful view, but it’s also only one mile long and takes only twenty minutes to hike.

Intermediate Trails

After getting your feet wet, you feel ready to take on tougher trails. So, some of the best hiking trails to discover this fall might have a little more of a challenge, but not enough to leave you exhausted. If you’re in Oregon, visit the Tillamook Head Trail.

This trail is known for being traversed by Lewis and Clark. It’s 6.5 miles long with 1000 feet of old-growth forest, with beautiful mountain ridges to see. It’s a half-day trek, so keep an eye on your hydration and nutrition.

Strenuous Trails

Once you’ve become an expert, some of the previously mentioned trails aren’t challenging enough for you. Ideally, you would like to spend a few days to a few weeks traveling on a single path. If you want to take on a few days of hiking and camping, consider Nankoweap Trail in Arizona. Considered one of the most challenging hikes in the Grand Canyon, it rewards you with unforgettable views. It’s 14 miles long, plunges 6000 feet, and has steep red wall limestone and echoing rapids.

If you feel ready to take on a beast of a hike, check out Seven Devils Trail, one of the best hiking locations around Hells Canyon. This is no cakewalk; you need to prepare extensively ahead of time. With dozens of lakes and rivers, you become exposed to natural hazards—including big rocks and fallen trees. It’s just under 28 miles, and you need to stay safe. Otherwise, you get rewarded with so many fun activities and sights to behold.

All in all, taking hikes is a great way to rediscover your love for nature and spend time with loved ones. So stay safe and have a fun time; you’ll never forget it.
