RIVERTON — Road construction season is upon us, and knowing where and when your route might be held up is key to smart – and safe – summer travel.

This handy guide provides you with an overview of this season’s big road construction projects, and a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation will also provide improved work zone communication with drivers across Wyoming.

The project will provide automated driving systems and drivers more information about work zones throughout the state and across the nation.

“The technology will give drivers a more transparent and accurate representation of what a specific work zone looks like on a given day,” explained WYDOT Director Darin Westby. “Once completed, the information will keep our employees and contractors working on these projects, as well as the folks driving through them, much safer.”

Check the state’s interactive 511 map for up-to-date information at www.wyoroad.info

While the new technology will be shared with third parties, like your GPS apps, WYDOT’s site includes even more information like wind speeds to help you plan.
