Wild Wyoming Outfitters in downtown Afton has recently opened an indoor shooting range downstairs of the store that community members can come to.

Range Master Jensen Odde and serves as a National Rifle Association (NRA) instructor and can provide training there. He has a background in law enforcement and says he is familiar with firearms.

“Now I’ve kind of moved all my knowledge that way,” Odde said. “Into helping other people learn to become proficient and have fun with firearms.”

Michael Butler, who works at the store, says they spent a lot of time on construction for the shooting range.

“We want it to be perfect,” Butler said. “We took a lot of pride in it. It’s state of the art, it’s beautiful. We clean it every day like it’s our baby, we put a lot of time and effort, a lot of sweat and tears into it. So, we’re very proud of it.”

He says to their knowledge this shooting range is one of four in the state of Wyoming and is the closest to the area within a large region. Odde says he has seen people coming from Idaho and Utah to check out their facilities.

Odde also says you can come in no matter what your experience is even if you’re one who has never touched a firearm.

“I’ll work with them and teach them everything they need to know,” Odde said. “How they’re going to hold their gun, what their sight pictures are supposed to look like, everything that way.”

He says you can get a package to rent the gun and have some lessons. The shooting instructor also says that even if you’re experienced, he is happy to discuss techniques with you and you can bring in your own gun.

“So, you can shoot most, every handgun,” Odde said. “Then up to a 308-rifle.” He says target distance can be anywhere from 11 feet to 25 yards. Butler says this is for individuals and groups as they have even been having classes. They have been putting on special events such as date night specials for a couple. Odde says they had a blacklight event where it was a Zombie Shoot.

Odde says it has helped law enforcement as well with getting some new potential officers some training.

They prefer reservations, especially if you’re coming in with a large group, but walk-ins are welcome to the facilities. You can purchase everything from a day pass, membership, to seasonal packages. They can also help service your firearm as well.

“We are certified Cerakote Applicator at Wild Wyoming,” Butler said. “We do have gunsmithing services.”

He also says Odde recently got some training on air gun smithing and so that is something they can help with as well.
