Cokeville Bike and Pedestrian Plan Begins

The Town of Cokeville and Lincoln County have begun a study to recommend future bicycle and pedestrian improvements for the Cokeville area.  The $40,000 study, known formally as the Transportation Alternatives Master Plan, is funded in part by a grant from the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT).

Community leaders have selected the firm of Y2 Consultants of Jackson to complete the planning study.  In coming weeks, they’ll inventory existing bike and pedestrian facilities, count traffic, and collect employment and housing data to estimate local pedestrian and bicycling travel needs for children and adults.

For safety during the Covid-19 pandemic, all public involvement will be conducted via on-line meetings, Facebook, email, mail, and phone.

Interested citizens are very welcome and encouraged to contribute ideas and preferences for the Plan.  As study materials are developed, they’ll also be posted on this Facebook page, so be sure to like the Facebook page: Cokeville Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.  Check back frequently. Citizens are also welcome to contact Sara Fagan at Y2 Consultants at 307-733-2999 or email Cokeville@y2consultants.com with questions and comments.

The Town of Cokeville will also mail household surveys to determine the extent of bicycling and walking, and to solicit public opinions.

Two “Virtual Meetings” are planned on July 30th and November 19th.  The meetings will use the “ZOOM” application so that citizens can see exhibits and chat with staff and each other.

Products of the study will include a Pedestrian & Bicycle Master Plan, a Safe Routes to School Plan, a Wayfinding Signage Plan, and an Implementation Plan.  The plan will recommend a series of future component projects and budgets to complete a non-motorized network to serve the Cokeville community for many years to come.
