The Wyoming High School Activities Association held their Spring meeting in Casper on Tuesday, April 24, and among the items up for discussion was the second reading of the 9-man football proposal for the state’s smaller schools.

In recent years in increasing number of forfeits have prompted a discussion of the 9-man game. The 4A and 3A football classifications will remain unchanged but the 1A 11-man game will be eliminated starting in the Fall of 2020 and replaced by a 9-man option

With that change, most of the previous 1A 11-man schools are opting for the 9-man game or 6-man games with the exception of Cokeville High School. The Panthers instead will be opting up to what will be the 2A 11-man classification in the Western Conference along with Lyman, Big Piney, Mountain View, Pinedale, Greybull, Lovell and Kemmerer. There will be a total of 17 teams in this class.
