Family and friends of deceased veteran make donation to Thayne Food Bank

Wednesday, Nov. 1 the family and friends of the late Robert L. “Bob” Barnes made a donation to the Thayne Food Bank. The donation was made in remembrance of Barnes.

“Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran and a decorated helicopter pilot in Vietnam,” said Randy Vivier, a family friend. “The family wanted to make a donation to the food bank to raise awareness for veterans in need.”
The initial donation was $202, according to Julie Buckley of the Thayne Food Bank.
Eko Paul, of Canyon River Realty, matched the family donation.

According to Buckley the $404 in funds will be used to purchase items for the Thayne Food Bank in order to better meet the needs of the community.

“We will work with Nancy Stafford of the Lincoln County Veteran Service Office to connect with Vets for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets this year,” Buckley said.

According to Buckley, the Thayne Food Bank is in need of baking supplies. Items such as sugar, flour and oil. There is also a need for salt, pepper and condiments.

“We always need cereal, syrup, tuna and peanut butter,” she said.
