Friday Night Prep Recap: November 1, 2019

• 3A Football Playoffs

Douglas: 12 Star Valley: 45
The game was tight midway through the second quarter but the Braves finished the game with 31 unanswered points to advance to the 3A semifinals for the fifth straight season. R.J. Cazier rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns while James and Hazen Erickson each had interceptions on defense. Chase Merrell caught a pair of touchdown passes from Brant Nelson and also kicked a 45-yard field goal.

Jackson Hole: 48 Riverton: 6 (Per @JHNGsports)
Jaydon Cox had over 200 yards and the Wolverines didn’t score until the waning moments of the game. The Broncs and Braves will meet in the semifinals for the first time at 6 p.m. in Afton on November 8. The only other post-season meeting between the schools took place in 1990. Powell: 41 Lander Valley: 14 (Per @Wyoming-Football)
The Tigers only lost twice this season and both of them were to Powell who ignored their #4 seed and routed Lander on their home field.

Worland: 26 Cody: 55 (Per @C_Havens22)
The Broncs forced four first-half turnovers and jumped out to a 20-0 lead before cruising to the victory. They will now host the Panthers as all four 3A West teams advanced and face off against their rivals.

• 1A Playoffs
Wright: 16 Cokeville: 20
Cokeville scored a touchdown and notched a two-point conversion with under a minute to go to come from behind and claim the win on their home field. They will host Upton-Sundance next weekend who blew out Rocky Mountain 53-7.

Wind River: 0 Big Horn: 82
Big Horn sets a new state record (Per @Wyoming-Football) for points in an 11-man football game and will host Southeast next weekend who beat Shoshoni 25-6.

• 2A Playoffs
Wheatland: 0 Mountain View 72
The Buffaloes stampeded over the Bulldogs to remain undefeated on the season. They will host Burns next weekend.

Thermopolis: 49 Lyman: 14
The Eagles’ season came to an end with the Bobcats coming into Uinta County and pulling the upset. Thermop now heads to Buffalo to face the defending 2A champion Bison.

• Volleyball
Star Valley: 3 Cody: 1 (25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17) (4A West Regionals)
Star Valley: 2 Rock Springs: 3 (25-23, 12-25, 25-21, 22-25, 9-15) (Semifinals)

The Lady Braves will now face the winner of Evanston and Jackson Hole at 12 noon on Saturday in a match that will see the winner qualify for the state tournament and the loser heading home. That match can be heard online at SVInews.com.
