Friday Night Sports Recap: Braves upend Broncs while the Lady Braves tame the Natrona Fillies

• Cody: 14 Star Valley: 21
The Star Valley Braves Football team had been dogged by turnovers and penalties all season long as fans wondered just what would happen if the team could stop shooting themselves in the foot.

On Friday night they got their answer as the Braves jumped out to a 21-0 lead and sealed a 21-14 win over the previously unbeaten Cody Broncs with a defensive stop in the fourth quarter.

The running game looked good led by Lane Oesch who had this second straight outing with over 100 yards rushing as he finished with a total of 126 and pair of rushing touchdowns.

Defensively the Braves were dominant in the first half, allowing just 56 total yards and forcing the game’s only turnover which was a fumble recovered by Winston Green.

The Broncs found some running room with Nic Talich who finished with 93 yards as they scored twice in the second half but unlike previous outings this season, the Cody passing game did not exploit the Star Valley secondary which allowed just 62 yards through the air on ten receptions.

The win gives Star Valley their first 3A West victory of the year, improving them to (1-2) in the conference. They have a chance to even up their conference record quickly as they have a short week to prepare for the Evanston Red Devils for a game that will be played on Wednesday October 14.
