Injuries reported in US 26 accident

Winter road conditions continue to cause accidents in the region. Another incident took place on Monday, January 22 at approximately 8:43 a.m. on U.S. 26 at mil marker 374 in Bonneville County.

According to information provided by the Idaho State Police, a 2007 Ford Econoline van was driving eastbound on U.S. 26 near mile marker 374 when the driver crossed into the oncoming lane, striking a 2019 Mazda CX-5. This location is near Swan Valley, Idaho.

The van driver, a 44-year old man from Idaho Falls, was transported via ambulance for medical attention. A 20-year old man from Ammon who was a passenger in the van, was not.

The driver of the Mazda was a 36-year old woman from Victor who was transported by air ambulance to a nearby hospital. A juvenile passenger in the Mazda was taken to a hospital via ground ambulance. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The accident caused U.S. 26 to be blocked in both directions for approximately three hours while emergency responders worked the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the ISP.
