Lady Braves to face Natrona with trip to State on the line

◆ Match begins at 12 noon Thursday at Evanston Middle School.

The season comes down to a win or go home scenario this week for the Lady Braves Soccer team as they will face the Natrona Fillies this Thursday for a State Tournament berth.

Star Valley comes into the Regional Tournament as the #5 seed with Natrona County as the #4 seed.
The Fillies won both regular season meetings but the match in Afton just two weeks ago was as close as they come as Natrona eked out a 3-2 win in the 97th minute at Braves Field in overtime. Because of this, the confidence level for the ladies is solid this week.

“We coaches are excited to be playing Natrona as our regional match up,” stated Head Coach Jessica Bagley. “We really felt we should have came away with a win last time if we can just figure out how to find the back of the net.”

Bagley pointed out that the team did punch in a goal last week in the regular-season finale in Jackson in a 4-1 loss.

“We were thrilled that Amber Milne [scored] off of a corner kick against Jackson last week,” she replied. “We were missing some players that game and I look forward to having them back with us when we meet up Thursday with Natrona.”

The match is scheduled to take place at Evanston Middle School beginning at 12 noon on Thursday.

SVI Media will be providing audio-only coverage of the match with a link at svinews.com.

“We are practicing this week some key things we really struggle with, as well as shutting down our opponent,” Bagley continued. “The girls know we can do it. The confidence is there. Now if we can execute finishing shots I think we are gonna be in a good spot and head to state.”
