The Lincoln County School District #2 Board of Trustees had their regular board meeting in Afton on March 13, 2024. Part of their meeting was a discussion to determine the finalists for a board position for Area 1 which is now vacant due to the resignation of Wade Hirschi who served on the board for for than 11 years.

Those finalists for the position to replace Hirschi include Susan Fiscus, Lenn Johnson, Mark Vierig and Eden Pieper. The board will interview those finalists next Wednesday, March 20.

Once the board determines the successful candidate, they will be appointed to the position and will then be sworn in officially on April 3. The appointed person will finish Hirschi’s term which is up for election later this year.

Superintendent Matt Erickson took time to praise Hirschi’s efforts over his 11 and a half years.

“It’s fitting that our focus tonight in our discussion has been on what’s best for kids,” he said. “Wade has spent the last 11 and a half years trying to do what’s best for kids and I commend him for that.”

Erickson also thanked Hirschi for his financial acumen.

“Our district has faced our share of financial challenges in that time as well,” he continued. “Wade’s expertise in that area has helped out the district greatly.”

The board and those in attendance then gave Hirschi a standing ovation and district officials presented him with a gift for his service.
