LCSD#2 ends lockdown at SVHS

Star Valley High School became the latest Wyoming school to experience a lockdown in the aftermath of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.

At just after 9 a.m. Monday morning, February 26, Lincoln County School District went into “precautionary mode” as they followed school safety protocol due to a threat that was under investigation by local law enforcement and school administration.”

LCSD #2 Superintendent, Alan Allred, stated that there was a specific threat made on social media towards Star Valley High School that warranted the use of the safety protocol.

The lockdown of the high school and other buildings in the Star Valley area lasted approximately one hour.

LCSD #2 stated in a released statement to parents and the public that “no specific thread has been validated and it has been deemed safe to return to normal schedule. Law enforcement throughout the district has been involved and will continue to monitor the situation.”

Star Valley High School is now the fourth school in Wyoming to receive some type of threat. According to the Casper Star-Tribune, Journey Elementary and Grant Elementary, which is vacant, both had reports of a school shooter. It was later discovered that the threat came from the area.

Pinedale Elementary School also received a threat late last week from outside of the state, prompting action by local authorities. The call was later deemed a prank

Allred will be speaking on SVI Radio as part of the Weekday Wakeup on Swift 98.7 FM & Black Mountain Country 1210 AM on Tuesday, February 27. His segment is scheduled for 8:35 a.m..
