Colder temperatures and wet conditions including the first real snow fall of the season has aided in the decision to lift the fire ban in Lincoln County according to the county commissioners office.

A resolution was released stating that “the County Fire Warden has determined there has been sufficient precipitation in the County to warrant the rescission of the fire closure and the [Commissioners] find the extreme danger of fire throughout Lincoln County has subsided and temperatures have dropped below critical highs.”

The fire ban was enacted on September 21.

The Marten Creek Fire burned more than 6,000 acres near Afton and several other smaller fires popped up during an extremely stressful wild fire season which was dominated by the Roosevelt Fire in Sublette County which scorched more than 61,000 acres and claimed 55 structures, many of which were homes in the Hoback Ranches area.
