Open house dates for Casper, Wyoming LDS Temple announced

The following is a news release from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – 

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the open house and dedication dates for the Casper Wyoming Temple.

Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the temple in two sessions on Sunday, October 13, 2024. The dedication sessions scheduled at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. MDT will be broadcast to all units of the Casper Wyoming Temple District.

A public open house will take place from Thursday, August 29, through Saturday, September 14, 2024, excluding Sundays. Before the public open house, a media day will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024.

Invited guests can also tour the temple from Tuesday, August 27 through Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced the Casper Wyoming Temple in April 2021. Construction began in October 2021. “Keep your temple covenants and blessings foremost in your minds and hearts,” he said, as he announced 20 temples, including the Casper Wyoming Temple.

Latter-day Saints settled in the Star Valley area of Wyoming in 1887. In 1888, President Brigham Young dedicated the area as a gathering place for members of the Church of Jesus Christ.

Temples announced, under construction or in use in Wyoming are the Casper Wyoming, Cody Wyoming and Star Valley Wyoming Temples.

Wyoming has a significant place in the history of the Church. Pioneers traveled across the state in their westward migration to Utah, primarily from the 1840s to the 1860s.
