Pennies by the Inch program continues in Star Valley

“Pennies by the Inch® is Primary Children’s Hospital’s oldest fundraising campaign. With an emphasis on children giving to children, this 100-year old fundraising campaign continues an incredible legacy throughout the Intermountain West to raise money for children and families in our community.” – primarychildrenshospital.org.

◆ Saunders helps Star Valley donate to Primary Children’s Medical Center.

Joyce Saunders has been working with Primary Children’s Medical Center since 2018 by collecting donations at our local grocery stores. After speaking with SVI Media, she stated, “I have a good friend who was on the foundation board and said, ‘We need someone from Wyoming…would you mind helping?’”

It wasn’t hard to accept the job. Saunders had experiences in her life involving friends and loved ones needing services at Primary Children’s.

“I have known children, and one of my own grandchildren, who went to Primary Children’s.” Saunders continued saying, “When I was a kid, I had a friend who needed to go to Primary Children’s. He had cancer and didn’t survive it.”

The money is used for anything that is needed. This includes things as simple as materials for crafts that the kids can have to make their stay a little better, to iPads during the pandemic to video call loved ones.

Last year, the Pennies by the Inch program raised $1,307 through coin jars in Star Valley. Let’s try to beat that number this year. Saunders asks the public to keep an eye out for the jars and donate when you can.
