Second confirmed case of COVID-19 reported in Star Valley, Lincoln County

The second confirmed case of COVID-19 has been reported in Lincoln County.  Star Valley Health reports that the case is a Star Valley community member and is related to a case in Teton County.  The individual has been in isolation since testing occurred.

According to Lincoln County Public Health, there is still no evidence of community spread in Lincoln County, but there is evidence in surrounding counties.  Public Health says the patient is an adult male and has been ordered to isolate and is recovering at home.  All family members related to this case are quarantined at home.

This brings the total confirmed count in Lincoln County to two, after the first case was announced Thursday evening.

Lincoln County Public Health

Lincoln County, WY – Lincoln County Public Health has received notification from the Wyoming
Department of Health of another individual testing positive for COVID-19 in North Lincoln
County. This brings the total case count in the county to 2.

At this time there is still no evidence of community spread in Lincoln County, but there is
evidence in surrounding counties.

The individual is an adult male. Currently the patient has been ordered to isolate and is
recovering at home. All family members related to this case are quarantined at home.
WDH and Lincoln County Public Health are following up to monitor and learn more about the
person’s exposure risk and identify and communicate with anyone who may have been in close
contact with the patient. Known contacts will be monitored for symptoms and tested if needed.
Contact tracing is important as it helps to stop transmission of the virus within the community
through early identification and prompt quarantine or isolation of the individuals who have
potentially been exposed.

Lincoln County Public Health wants to remind all Lincoln County residents:

● Stay home when sick and avoid contact with others unless medical attention is
necessary. Individuals with a fever, cough, or flu-like symptoms regardless of travel
history should call Star Valley Health’s symptom triage lines at 307-885-5008 or South
Lincoln Hospital District’s triage line at 307-877-8719 for evaluation and instructions. All
other medical emergencies should contact 911.

● Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
● Cover your coughs and sneezes.
● Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches,
countertops, faucets, sinks, phones, keypads, etc.
● Follow the advice from the Centers of Disease Control on how to protect yourself.

Star Valley Health

Star Valley Health has been notified of a second positive test result for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) of a
Star Valley community member. This case is related to a positive case in Teton County, WY. The
individual has been in isolation since testing occurred.

Star Valley Health is here to support the community through this healthcare emergency. The
development of the COVID-19 emergency mitigation strategies are in place to reduce transmission of
this disease. Several strategies are key to reducing the spread of the coronavirus. These strategies
include social distancing, avoiding discretionary travel, limiting the size of gatherings, hand washing and
tele-commenting.

You are encouraged to call the Live COVID-19 Support Hotline, 885-5008, to answer questions regarding
the Coronavirus. If you have symptoms like a fever, cough, shortness of breath, body aches, fatigue and
sore throat, please call this hotline or your healthcare provider before you visit a clinic. Routine clinic
visits or patients with non-urgent symptoms will receive care through tele-health visits so that they can
remain in their homes.
