Star Gymnastics Boys Team wraps up first competition season

The Boys Gymnastics Team from Star Gymnastics in Thayne wrapped up their first competitive season, earning their first team trophy with three gymnasts preparing for regionals in Colorado. The team is made up of six local athletes, including Malachi Byrd, Graham Byrd, Ben Tyler, Benjamin Bramwell, Declan Tipton and Timmy Petersen. The team is coached by Mikaela Byrd, Evan Byrd and Sara Tipton.

“They started competing this year,” said Coach Tipton. “They did three meets, then state March 9th. They got 3rd as a team at the Yellowstone Challenge, earing their first trophy for Star Gymnastics.”

At the state event held on March 9, Division 2 Gymnast Ben Tyler won the all around title. Division 1 gymnast Declan Tipton finished in 1st in all around, with Benjamin Bramwell in 3rd and Timmy Petersen in 4th. Tipton placed 1st in the pommel horse, rings and vault events while Bramwell placed 1st in floor and parallel bars.

Peterson, Bramwell and Tipton will all be competing at regionals in Colorado Springs on April 6th.
