In the state of Wyoming, we have received a 2.5 million dollar grant from the Small Business Association to implement this initiative. Wyoming Library to Business Network launched in March of 2021. The Wyoming Library to Business program is a business-focused, community-driven, and completely free resource based in local libraries around the state. We have just launched the program in Lincoln County at the Lincoln County Library in Kemmerer and at the Star Valley Branch Library in Afton.
Through the program, Wyoming entrepreneurs and business owners can connect with a curated network of business experts, access specialized resources to learn new skills, and discover tools for success in every stage of the business development process.
The library has a dedicated, webcam-enabled laptop to allow participants to meet virtually with experts across the state, along with a portable projector to screen webinars, online programs, and more. The classes, webinars, and programs are all free, and anyone can participate in order to learn valuable skills for starting or growing a business.
Available resources at the Star Valley Branch Library library include:
● 1 Dell Latitude 5521 15.6” Laptop with a mouse, presentation clicker, and over-the-ear headset
● 1 Epson PowerLite 1785W Projector
● An MS Office License
● 1 Adjustable height rolling desk
● 1 Halo Light and tripod
● 1 Green/Blue Screen and tripod
● 1 Black/White Screen and tripod
The items in the station are not currently circulating, but we hope to make that available soon. The Lincoln County Library in Kemmerer also has materials for podcasting and production.
At the Star Valley Branch Library, there will be monthly business classes on the second Friday from 12-1 (can be done on your lunch break). These classes are called “WY Not Business Classes.” Why not start your own business here in Wyoming where you have a great small business support system? In these classes, we will introduce patrons looking to start a small business to the station, teach them so essential skills, and share resources. Our class on Friday, 13 January, answers the 20 questions to help individuals start their own businesses.
