Young named as South coach for 45th annual Shrine Bowl

The annual Shrine Bowl this summer will have a Star Valley feel to it, at least the South squad. McKay Young has been selected to coach the South squad for the game. He is the first SVHS head coach to coach in the game since Dale Anderson in 2006.

The 2016 Wyoming Shrine Bowl Game raised $33,000 for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City. According to the Wyoming Shrine Bowl website, the money raised will be used to help fund new radiology equipment for the hospital that makes x-rays safer for children by reducing radiation by up to 90 percent.

The Shriners Hospital is a specialized children’s orthopedic hospital that treats 5,000 patients and performs 1,200 surgeries a year regardless of a family’s ability to pay.

The 45th annual game will take place on June 9, 2018 in Casper.

The coach for the North squad will be Marty Wrage from Greybull High School. The coaches will now begin selecting their assistant coaches and then each staff will choose the players for the game on each respective team.
