In a groundbreaking initiative, Dr. Niki Milleson of Star Valley Health is introducing menopause consult clinics designed to provide support and education for women throughout Star Valley and Western Wyoming. During a recent interview on SVI Radio, Dr. Millison emphasized the importance of addressing menopause and its related concerns, a topic that has often been overlooked in women’s healthcare.

Dr. Milleson, a family physician in Star Valley, shared her journey of developing a special interest in menopause management over the past few years. “There has been a push for more menopause awareness and treatment,” she explained. “I felt that this was a good time to get this launched and help the women in Star Valley with their questions about what happens to them when they meet this time in life.”
The menopause consult clinics will not operate as traditional courses but will offer one-on-one consultations for women experiencing menopause-related symptoms. Dr. Milleson clarified that women may begin to experience these symptoms as early as their late 30s to mid-40s, making it crucial for them to seek guidance during the perimenopause phase, which occurs before the final menstrual cycle.
“There’s a lot of misunderstanding around menopause,” Dr. Milleson stated. She aims to educate women about menopause, sharing the latest information and treatments available, regardless of whether they are currently experiencing symptoms or have already transitioned through menopause.
For those who have already gone through menopause, Dr. Milleson encouraged them to seek consultations if they have lingering questions or concerns. “I am always, always happy to meet with women and answer their questions. I want to educate them on what the current practices are and what can be most helpful for them at this time of life,” she noted.
Women interested in the menopause consult clinics can reach Dr. Milleson at the Alpine Clinic by calling 307-654-5852 or the Thayne Clinic at 307-883-5852. Telehealth consultations are also available, extending her services beyond Wyoming to Idaho, Utah, and Arizona.
Additionally, Dr. Milleson will host a lecture on perimenopause at the Alpine Branch Library on April 10 at 6 p.m., inviting women at any stage of menopause to learn more about this critical phase of life.
