Friends of the Alpine Branch Library are hosting the 3rd Annual Potting Shed Pop Up Fundraiser in the parking lot of the Alpine Branch Library at 243 River Circle in Alpine on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds from the event go to benefit programming and services at the Alpine Library throughout the coming year.
Folks have the opportunity through this event to purchase premium perennials, annuals, herbs and other plants that are provided by landscaper and former owner of The Potting Shed, Jennifer Strasburg.
According to Betsy Grande, who serves on the board of the Friends of the Alpine Branch Library, this event has served as a very successful means of raising money to the board as they work to provide the library with funds for “programs that are not covered in the budget provided through the Wyoming Library System.”
“We are getting more and more children in the valley,” said Grande in an interview with SVI Media on Monday. “This provides a buffer to accommodate programs and more children” who want to participate in those programs. “The library offers great programs.” Some of the Summer Reading offerings, such as “entertainers,” weren’t budgeted for this year.
Additionally, the board is working on a landscaping project to improve the library grounds by “removing trees and adding more user-friendly landscaping so that events can be held outside during the summer.” This project will provide “a place where people can play and gather and meet and read books in the shade.”
This fundraiser “supports a great cause,” said Grande. “Our plants are extremely high quality, and you won’t find better prices. We are going to do some promotional things for our annual book sale that it in August, and this is always a nice event for people to come out and start working on their gardens and grounds for the summer. It’s nice to have help with library expenditures.”
