Star Valley’s 4-H Horse Club is hosting a fundraising event for their organization on Saturday, June 14 from 2-5 p.m. at the Box H Park in Fairview with a dance following the fun from 7-10 p.m. The park entrance is at the corner of Spring Creek Road and Fairview North Road. GPS doesn’t recognize the address, so guests can find the park from the four-way stop in Fairview. All proceeds go toward supporting club members with participation expenses.

Club youth leaders, President Shannon Bagley and member JaiJ Romine, have created the event to help club members with camp fees and tack expenses, as well as fund their awards banquet at the end of the season.
In preparation for the competition at the Lincoln County Fair coming in August, the club meets at the fairgrounds regularly for instruction from Alexa Neuenschwander, who has participated professionally in Wyoming and surrounding states as a competition rider. “She teaches us in little steps at a time to make it better and better for when we show [in horse competition at the fair],” Romine explained in an interview on the SVI Radio Network last week.
Both Bagley and Romine have been involved with 4H Horse for seven years. While both girls enjoy riding, Bagley participates because “there are so many really good people, and they are really involved.” Romine claims it as her “social hour,” which is valuable for members during the summer months of agricultural work when they are on a break from school.
“We want to have a banquet at the end of the year and have buckles for sportsmanship to show appreciation to these kids because they work really hard throughout the rest of the year,” said Bagley.
This fundraiser event is planned in carnival style with booths to be presented by club members who will offer activities such as bracelet making, nail painting, pony rides and pictures with a pony where costumes will be provided. “It’s going to be really fun,” said Bagley. “We’re going to have a pie eating contest and a wood splitting competition that you sign up for that day.” Picnic opportunities will be provided with a food truck on site and a booth offering cotton candy.
That evening, the lawn will open as a dance floor with live music provided by Star Valley’s premier live country artists, The Linfords. “We want to bring the community together to get to know each other.”
Tickets include all activities throughout the day, including the dance. Guests are invited to come and enjoy any part or all the festivities. Admission for the entire day is $20 for a family or $10 for individuals.
